Job Summary 

Load, unload and haul construction materials and equipment from jobsite to jobsite generally in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. Work Monday to Friday and occasional weekends, usually 40 - 50 hours per week. Some overnight stays may be required.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a valid Class A CDL license
  • Attend work as scheduled
  • Get along with others
  • Speak and read English well enough to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records
  • Follow company handbooks and other instructions
  • Use and care for tools, equipment and materials

Specific Duties

  • Load and secure cargo in a safe manner with or without assistance
  • Safely haul and unload material
  • Operate crane or loader used to load and unload truck, or capable of being trained in such skills
  • Plan work and maintain schedules as directed
  • Inspect equipment and document the inspection
  • Maintain truck including tires, service, grease, wash and adjustments
  • Maintain log books, fuel and service records and secure over-dimensional permits as required
  • Read and understand Safety Data Sheets and container labels
  • Identify and communicate safety concerns to management in a timely manner
  • As needed, perform other duties as assigned by management such as working in shops, yards or at jobsites

Requirements

Education

  • High School graduate or G.E.D. preferred
  • Valid Class A CDL driver's license
  • Valid medical examiner's certificate indicating medically qualified to hold CDL license
  • No conviction of motor vehicle violations during the past 12 months

Physical

  • Good vision and hearing (capable of passing CDL medical exam)
  • Sit in vehicle and drive for extended periods of time
  • Walk, stand, climb, bend, kneel, reach, lift and balance
  • Lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis
  • Operate safely in adverse weather conditions including wind, rain, snow, ice, mud, heat, etc.
  • No medical history of diabetes requiring insulin for control, cardiovascular disease, respiratory dysfunction, high blood pressure, vascular disease, epilepsy, psychiatric disorder or loss of limbs likely to interfere with ability to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle safely, unless granted a Skill Performance Evaluation Certificate.
